I must say that this is a highly offensive quote. I do not dishonor the service of your husband nor that of the many who have served. But this quote reflects the dangerous state of the nation and its relationship with the military. The military is a tool of the government and whether or not it is defending the freedom of the nation is determined by the actions of that government. To blindly praise the servicemen as the giver of all freedoms is to follow a path which leads to a very dark world and to dishonor the sacrifice of the lawyers who were this nations founding fathers, the journalists who fought for freedom from the oppressions which have threatened the nation over the centuries, and the student protesters who died at the hands of the United States Military in countless protests. This quote does not reflect the spirit of sacrifice which members of the armed forces should keep in their hearts. And its wide use tells the story of a nation who would revere them above all else even while they were but tools of a greater force.
Also I have recieved some conflicting information as to whether this quote is from Father O'Brien as stated below or by Charles M. Province. I am as yet unsure.
With Respect,
